A teenager from Walthamstow has been charged with the murder of a man outside McDonalds in Oxford Street.

Anthony Costa of Gainsford Road appeared at Waltham Forest Magistrates' Court today.

Daniel Kavanagh, prosecuting, told the court that it is alleged that at 4.40pm on Monday, Costa was in Oxford Street with two friends, and the victim was with two friends when they "eye-balled" them.

Both sets of friends are alleged to have argued and pushed each other and a drink was thrown.

A post-mortem examination at Westminster Mortuary revealed that Mr Bigby, from Hackney, died of a single stab wound to the heart.

Costa was arrested one-and-a-half days later. He will remain in custody and is due to appear at the Old Bailey for a plea hearing on August 20.

A 19-year-old man who was also arrested in connection with the murder has been bailed pending further enquiries.

Police confirmed that Mr Bigby was on bail awaiting trial over the rape of a 16-year-old girl in Tottenham, north London, in January.

He was one of a group of 10 men charged over the attack, in which it was alleged the girl had caustic soda poured over her to destroy DNA evidence.

Mr Bigby was also due to stand trial in June over a fight at a snooker club in Tottenham in October 2006 after which a knife was found.
