‘UFO sighting really took my breath away’

WAS it a bird? Was it a plane? No, it was a shining silver pyramid, according to two colleagues who spotted a UFO in the skies of Putney last week.

Michelle Medhat was sitting at her office desk last Wednesday morning when she glanced out of the window and spotted a glimmering silver object in the sky.

"I thought what the hell is that?' There were no clouds in the sky at all and 100 per cent visibility.

"The sun was hitting the object and you could see it was turning very slowly.

"I did get a feeling there was something strange about the thing," she said.

Entranced, Michelle signalled to her colleague Peter Gardiner, 53, to take a look.

He said: "At first I thought it was a big piece of rubbish or a clear tarpaulin sheet.

"But then it glistened and it was shiny. It had a strange pattern of movement. It was a significant size, possibly the size of a roof or even a house."

The pair watched it for a couple of minutes, rotating in the distance and heading towards Wandsworth Town. Then, as soon as it had appeared it vanished.

Michelle said if it was a piece of rubbish it would have caused severe damage when it came down, because of its size and density.

"I can't explain it and therefore I'm calling it a UFO. It took my breath away. It did feel weird.

"The more I looked at it I realised there was something not quite right. It wasn't moving like anything I've ever seen before," she said.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said it had not been notified of any sighting of the pyramid.

"The MoD does not have any expertise or role in respect of UFO/flying saucer' matters or to the question of the existence or otherwise of extraterrestrial lifeforms, about which it remains totally open-minded."

He said it examined the reports of UFO sightings it received solely to establish whether what was seen might have some defence significance, namely whether there was any evidence the UK's airspace might have been compromised by hostile or unauthorised air activity.

Michelle and Peter said there has been a lot of activity in the skies over Putney recently.

Michelle said they had seen several Chinook helicopters over the past week and believes something must be happening.

Chinooks are used to transport troops, artillery, supplies and equipment, but also used for operations such as medical evacuation, disaster relief and search and rescue.

When travelling to Putney, our reporter saw what looked to be three Apache helicopters travelling east.

A spokesman for the MoD said the helicopters were probably part of general aviation traffic over London and there was no specific activity or event they were involved in. He added such movements were "not unusual".

i was watching a chinook helicopter flying over waterloo, it was acopmpnyed by a smaller black helicopter, when these had passed i noticed a strange shape in the sky catching the sun, it semmed to be moving in a circular motion, and was only visiable for half its revolution, this account sounds remarkably simalar to what i saw and documented.

I was in London with my wife on 20/12/2006, we were in Trafalgar square just watching the crowds etc. I took a some photos including 1 of of Nelsons. When I looked at the picture later on, I could see a strange shape in the air whicj=h looks to be in the distance on the right hand side of the column. it doesn't look like a bird or a plane, so I'm not really sure of what it is. I have the photo if you would like to see it.

In about 1997 I was with my family in sussex walking in the countryside and saw an object in the sky.
It was triangular in shape-point upwards! Moving quite quickly for its distance away. The sun was gleaming off it. I looked at it through my mums binoculars and it was definately triangular in shape- like a pyramid!!

August 2, 2007 - I was on my roof terrace in Putney having a drink with my brother about 1.30am this morning when I saw 2 orange lights emerge from the south west and move eastwards across the sky. I thought it was a plane or helicopter at first but then the lights, which were initially really close together moved further apart. They then stopped and just got smaller and smaller and disappeared like they just burnt out.The lights were visible for approx 3 minutes I would say. I wonder did anyone else see anything unusual like this last night?

I've seen a few shiney things in the sky that have behaved oddly or lights at night but put it down to me seeing things, millitary activity or odd litter. Last sunday I saw what I thought was a huuge black bin bag seemingly stationary in the air around canary wharf towers - Until it suddenly moved a bit, flew off very fast and then looked like it hung over central london (all I could see was a dot by this point).
The people I was with saw it too.. but we just put it down to being some weird new anti-radar helicopter or promotional airbaloon something. shame I forgot to take a picture :(

Last night, 6th October 2007, 11.05 PM, I saw 9 bright orange lights passing through the sky, going from east to west. They seemed to be very high up. They were flying at about the same distance from each other ,in a long line. One of the lights was going slightly faster and was overtaking the other ones. After the first six passed I saw anotehr two coming from the east and I went inside to get my girlfriend and a mate. They saw the two objects flying over and then a last one appeared and passed over. They took about 2-3 minutes to pass overhead. Has anyone else seen this? I know it definitely wasn't an airplane or balloon or something, they went too fast for that, didn't make any noise and they were just too bright orange! I've never seen anything like it.

Mon 02.30am, 12 Nov 07

I was watching a movie in my room. Around 02.30am i opened my window to get some fresh air. My window overlooks a park with a massive tree 2x the size of my house. I looked up at the stars and noticed that a 'STAR' next to the tree was shining brighter than the rest. It was sparkling like a sparkler. Also, it had some red colour appear on its right side then disappear. I observed it for a few minutes. It was stationary. Then it slightly moved down then back to position, then slightly right, then back to position. Was convinced it was a ufo. After 5 mins of this going on, I closed the window and continued watching my movie. About 20 mins later, My inner voice told me to look outside again. When i opened the window, it was not there no more. I looked at the tree and noticed thru the branches that it had moved and was now positioned behind the tree. Stationary in one position, moving slightly and returning back to its position... Did anyone else see something last night?? If anyone did, can you pls reply back. I'm convinced someone else saw it too....

4/11/07 7.34pm We were travelling along Cheqers towards W.G.C when i noticed a formation of bright lights in the sky. We stopped and got out, all looked up to see them in a line with a dimond shape at the bottem approx 10 lights in total. After a couple of mins they slowly one by one went amber and moved in a upwards direction untill they vanished. Me & my daughter took photo's with our phones on which you can see the lights. Out of four adults not one of us could explain what they were

We have just been out for a walk following our Christmas Dinner. Whilst walking near Hatfield Road we witnessed a steady succession of several reddish objects moving through the sky from West to East, ( I think). We seen planes in the sky too and these were quite distinct as they made no noise whatsoever, did not emit the standard flashing light as a plane would and seemed to be cruising though varying their speed too abruptly for aircraft.

Really wierd siting. Just before 8pm I was in my lounge watching TV, and a flash shot past the window. It long, silver and incredibly bright. It looked like lighting but it travelled horizontally and flashed brilliant white light similar to lighting. About a minute later there was a great bang (like thunder). I thought it was lighting and didn't think anymore of it. But there wasn't anymore lighting or thunder after the first strike. I looked out of the window and could see against the clouds balls of green luminescent light moving around very fast across the sky. I could only see them in the clouds, when they zoomed to an area of the sky without clouds they disappeared. These strange green lights carried on for at least 3 hours more. Did anyone else see anything wierd in the sky in Putney?

Lat eve I was sitting watching tv when I saw white slashing lights reflecting on my window. First I thhought I was imagining them but I shouted to my hubby who was upstairs to look out and see if he could see anything. He too saw the lights moving around behind the clouds. We then spotted tiny lights which we first thought were stars but when we studied them they were all in a line and moving across the sky quite steadily. It all seemed very strange and we could not make out what it was all about. If anyone else saw it ( around 9.30 last eve) I would be interested to hear if they have any explanation??

I hate to burst your bubble, but there are two Chinook helicopters that fly past Putney and over Fulham on their way to Heathrow practically daily.

I also saw the orange fireballs/lights on New Year's Eve. Must have been about 20 in total, all flying in exactly the same direction at the same angle along the same line. Too fast to be a plane, they were bright orange and faded into nothing. Two guys also witnessed this and a girl, who became hysterical over it. Very very odd. Was between midnight and 12:30

I saw a weird flying flame that floated around canary wharf at around 10pm on 3rd may.
Seemed to float very unnatually... I thought it was a plane coming from city airport on fire to start with.
A building got in the way so not sure what happened to it.

This is in reguards to jack's comment. I have seen exactly the same thing as you described about 30 minutes ago. i was on my way to pick my brother up from guildford town and literally as soon as i pulled out my drive way, i saw these lights. i pulled over so i could get a better look. They were orange and were all moving slowly in a long straight line, and when they all got to a certain location they slowly dissapeared into nothing. but there were a few more than 20. i am absoloutly gob smacked but what i saw and would love it if someone could possibly shed any light on this.
