THE head of the UK's biggest Bengali TV channel is recovering after he was allegedly tortured after being kidnapped outside its Walthamstow headquarters.
Mohammed Mahee Jalil Ferdhaus, 38, says he was bundled into a car outside the offices of Channel S in Clifford Road in the early hours of Wednesday, May 25.
He was reportedly then driven to an unknown location where he was beaten and tortured before being dumped by the A406 North Circular road a few hours later.
Mr Ferdhaus managed to make his way home and then taken to hospital for treatment for multiple injuries.
He was discharged over the weekend.
Sadek Ali, 41, Windemere Gardens in Ilford, was arrested in connection with the incident.
He was charged with conspiracy to kidnap and remanded in custody at Waltham Forest Magistrates Court on Monday May 30.
The Channel S station has an estimated audience of half a million people and is popular among Britain's Bangladeshi community.
It first began broadcasting on Sky in 2004.
It has been investigated several times by Ofcom following allegations it broke broadcasting regulations.
In 2008 it was fined £40,000 for repeatedly broadcasting a political advert.
No-one from Channel S was prepared to comment about the alleged kidnap.
