The family of an 11 year old who collapsed and died while going to meet his friends are planning a permanent tribute to their son and brother.
Jack Rae collapsed and died on February 17 near his home in the Lindle Lane area of Hutton. It is still unclear what caused his death. His parents, Anthony and Ruth, and siblings, David, Adam, Charlotte, Megan and Mary, are coming to terms with their loss.
Mr Rae said: "Jack was a special boy, strong and brave but kind and gentle, painfully shy and yet so adventurous." Now the family want to raise £10,000 to create an adventure playground at their son's former school, Howick CE Primary, Penwortham. Jack was well known for his love of the outdoors. He had hoped an adventure playground would be built at his school but there were not enough funds.
Mr Rae, a retired policeman, said: "An independent fund has now been set up in his memory. It will be made of woods and ropes, Jack's favourite things and many children will play there for many years and Jack will watch over them with a big smile on his face."
To donate, send a cheque, payable to Jack Rae Playground, c/o Howick CE Primary School, Liverpool Road, Penwortham, Preston, PR1 0NB.
