Storm winds have caused structural damage and left two people injured at Lord's Cricket Ground in north London.
Sections of the ground's Tavern Stand roof were blown off into an adjacent walkway and a nearby car park.
Two motorists were hit by the debris, sustaining minor injuries.
Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) has closed the ground, famous for hosting England's cricket matches, to the public and advised its staff to stay indoors.
According to a spokesman, the extent of the damage "is being investigated".
Heavy winds have battered most of the country since late this morning.
Besides chaos on public transport networks and safety risks to motorists, pedestrians have also been affected.
The Millennium Bridge, the 320-metre pedestrian walkway spanning the Thames, has been closed by police until further notice.
Police have said it is a "precautionary" measure to prevent pedestrians being blown into the river.
