Pop superstars Morcheeba and David Gray will headline a free concert at Trafalgar Square later this month.
The two acts are the first to be confirmed for the Sunday, August 31 event, which will begin the latest stage of the Totally London tourism promotion campaign.
The concert, funded by the London Development Agency, will also highlight the new-look Trafalgar Square.
Tickets are free, but only 10,000 are available, due to space restrictions.
People wanting tickets have just two days to register their interest, after which a draw will be made.
Skye Edwards, of Morcheeba, said she was looking forward to the show, after seeing the revamped Trafalgar Square.
“After we were asked to do this show, I happened to get off the bus just round the corner from Trafalgar Square and it suddenly dawned on me that it would be an amazing place to do a show.” David Campbell, chief executive of Visit London, said the concert was an excellent way to kick off the next phase of the Totally London tourism campaign, which will target Londoners, other Britons, and people from nearby European countries.
Event organisers have warned people not to turn up without tickets, as an eight-foot steel fence will be put up, to comply with health and safety requirements.
There be will no view of the concert from surrounding streets.
About 10,000 tickets are on offer, by calling 0870 511 2206. Callers will be asked to leave their name, address and postcode. Phone lines close at midnight tomorrow (13 August).
Tickets will be allocated after a draw, made on Thursday August 14, and successful applicants will be notified by post by Saturday August 23.
