THOUSANDS of police officers are patrolling the streets of London today four weeks after the 7/7 attacks which killed 52 people.
Today is also two weeks after a second wave of failed attacks was launched on the capital's transport network.
An unprecedented police presence, thought to be in the region of 6,000 officers, has been posted. Many are armed.
The policing operation is designed to reassure the public as well as prevent another possible strike by terrorists.
Meanwhile, the first person to be charged in the UK in connection with the attacks is due in court today.
Ismael Abdurahman of Newport Street, Kennington SE11, will appear at Bow Street Magistrates Court charged under Section 38 of the Terrorism Act 2000.
The 23-year-old is alleged to have withheld information which could have helped police. It is understood to be in connection with the failed Shepherd's Bush attacks of two weeks ago.
Last night police also released another man arrested in Brighton at the weekend.
