An Edgware resident could not believe her eyes when she spotted an lizard in a tree in her neighbour's garden.
Sandra Kaye, 59, snapped this photo of the creature and sent it in this week.
But on closer inspection, the reptilian shape was not what it first appeared to be, but was part of the cherry tree.
Ms Kaye said: "I honestly thought one had escaped and was sitting on the tree trunk.
"I was totally fascinated."
The shape had been created when one of the branches of the tree, in Whitchurch Lane, was cut off.
Ms Kaye said: "It's a natural phenomenon. Personally, I think it is very interesting."
