Annetta Susannah Lewis

Published on 10/10/2019

Annetta Susannah Lewis nee Brown. To my carers and family: What you do matters, that you care matters not only to me, but also to my family. You smiled and looked at me when you talked to me, and you listened to and responded to what I was saying. You were assertive but not rude when I was being difficult, and told me it was ok when I realised, I had not been nice to you. What you do matters, that you care matters. You helped me with my personal grooming, supporting me when I stood, and wheeling me here and there when I could no longer stand. You smiled, spoke kindly and gently with me when I could not comprehend. You took a moment to explain to my family so they could understand. What you do matters, that you care matters. You remembered I was once a nurse and you talked to me about my medication. You listened to me and responded to me when I was unsure. What you do matters, that you care matters. You washed and styled and brushed my hair, you painted my nails. You fixed my clothes so I did not show anything that I should not show. You said I looked nice. What you do matters, that you care matters. You provided me with meals when I could no longer cook. You helped me to eat when I could not help myself. You helped me to brush my teeth which was important to me. What you do matters, that you care matters. Now I am gone, my race is complete and I am in heaven with the Lord. He sees your heart, sees that you care. You care and you matter. Thank you. Annetta Susannah Lewis nee Brown. 23rd November 1927 - 2nd October 2019, age 91.
