Death Notice

John David BELL

John David BELL
BELL John David It is with great regret that his family announce the death of John David Bell of Linkfield Road Isleworth on 31 May aged 77. David, as he was known, lived a happy and fulfilled life as father, partner, brother, uncle, great uncle and friend to so many. He will be principally remembered as an engineer extraordinaire who intuitively understood all things which clanked as they moved and was highly prized particularly by the Thames boating community for his professionalism and commitment in resolving the most challenging of mechanical and electrical problems afloat. He was also a much-applauded cook who didn't worry about recipe books but created his culinary delights by instinct. David's cremation will take place privately but a celebration of his life is being organised. Please contact DavidBellMemory@yahoo.com for details.

I have known David for many years via our association with River Thames Boat Project.
It has been an honour to know him and appreciate his engineering skills and Royal Navy background.
We undertook many projects together mainly on the Thames Venturer for the Project but he sometimes asked me to help him in his private work in boat repair and maintenance.
In this work he taught me a lot of useful mechanical wrinkles in bringing about a lasting fix to seemingly difficult faults.
He will be greatly missed by myself and many others in the field.
