STUDENTS studying at North West Kent College will be among those offered apprenticeships as part of the Gravesham Heritage Quarter development.
Developer Edinburgh House has set a target to work with at least 100 young and unemployed people as part of the £120m project.
Opportunities ranging from two-week placements to apprenticeships will be offered and North West Kent College will steer the training scheme to provide nationally recognised qualifications.
Business and skills advisor to Edinburgh House Jonathan Shaw said: “Meeting with students and staff has confirmed this is right thing to do.
“Many of the carpentry students have told us although they love what they do, many fear the jobs market and some are already struggling to find work or gain professional experience.
“Our plan is to help them gain this experience, meet employers and help kick-start their careers.”
Edinburgh House submitted a planning application for the Heritage Quarter in November last year.
