An eight-foot high 'Lock' Ness Monster floated down the Regent's Canal at Camden Lock this morning to launch the first ever Camden Create Festival which opens tomorrow.
The polysterene creature, decked out in the festival's bright colours, is being used to promote the inaugural festival which involves a series of talks, workshops and events to celebrate the creative businesses and people of Camden.
Festival producer Ruth Dronfield said ''We wanted to launch the first ever Camden Create festival with a bang and what better way to do it than take over one of the areas most iconic landmarks. The festival is all about celebrating creativity in the area and Camden's Lock Ness monster is a great example of the local talent working together to create something memorable for the area.''
Renowned Camden figures including Alex Proud, founder of Proud Galleries, and fashion designer Wayne Hemingway, co-founder of Red or Dead, are among local names at the festival who will be talking about their work and careers and offering advice to those looking to break into the creative industries.
There will also be a host of events showing Camden as a great place to play as well as work including a wrap-up party at The Jazz Cafe.
