EMERGENCY services were called to the scene of a 'plane crash' arrived to find it was just the jet engine of a superbike being fired up.
Hundreds of people flocked to Piddington, Buckingham- shire, on Saturday to catch a glimpse of Europe's only road legal jet powered super trike at a charity fun day.
Around 700 customers descended on The Dashwood Arms in Old Oxford Road and raised more than £1,000 for Cancer Research UK.
The event was organised by landlord, Derek Mason, who is also one of the nine founding members of the 365 Bike and Trike Club.
The club holds an annual event where the Colossus super trike, which is powered by a helicopter engine, acts as star guest - but this is the first time it has visited Buckinghamshire.
Mr Mason said: "We were absolutely blown away by the response from the local community. Being a biker event we were a little bit dubious about how it would be received but the local community came in absolute force and supported us."
The Colossus was driven up and down the road with its regular combustion engine and the jet engine was given a blast in the beer garden, bringing a few surprise guests.
Mr Mason added that the ambulance, fire service and police were called to the pub after it was fired up.
He said: "Somebody thought a light aircraft crashed in our beer garden. They were all very good humoured about it. When they turned up they thought it was an absolute work of art I believe."
Bikers from as far as Devon, Bristol, Hampshire and Yorkshire travelled to the pub to support the event.
