These six adorable dogs are wearing their best hats and outfits for Royal Ascot week – and we’re betting there are people out there willing to take a gamble and give them all new homes.
The pooches have spent a combined 1,000 days as rescue centre residents waiting for new owners.
They have been cared for at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home’s Old Windsor centre, and have become the charity’s most unwanted dogs.
Londoners are being urged to take their blinkers off and notice these Battersea dogs that are desperate for homes.
Martha, a nine-year-old Staffordshire bull terrier, has spent more than 400 days at the centre after being found wandering the streets of Hillingdon in April 2014. She is currently the longest-stay resident across all three Battersea centres.
Bud, a greyhound collie cross, is fast approaching his one-year anniversary in kennels.
The six-year-old is said to be easy to train because of his love for food.
Jack Russell terriers Ruby and Oscar are best friends that are inseparable and looking for a new home together.
They have very different personalities – Oscar is laidback and Ruby likes to be on the go.
Ethel is a sweet-natured greyhound. With her ex-racing days behind her, she has patiently waited 120 days so far for a new family.
Reggie is a mongrel who will keep his owners both entertained and on their toes.
He is an affectionate boy who loves attention but is a bit of an outsider so will be the perfect pet for experienced owners.
Members of the public will have the chance to meet these six dogs at Battersea Old Windsor’s annual fun day on July 4.
