If only people would pay attention. With a piano at the heart of their sound, large chunks of the indie nation have already dismissed Bournemouth's own Air Traffic as Keane-lite. They're wrong. Air Traffic's bouncy sound is piano-driven, but a whole lot more positive and appealing than Keane's whine lake.
Great big hooks propel recent singles Just Abuse Me and Never Even Told Me Her Name.
Although the ballads will doubtless earn mainstream appeal, the band's strength lies in their unashamedly infectious power pop.
It's far from perfect, but imagine what Coldplay would give for an upbeat pop moment like Get In Line or the stellar storm of Empty Space, instead of the droll plod of Chris Martin's self-importance.
