So The Corrs have split up. It appears Andrea's siblings have decided to retire from public life and concentrate on bringing up families of their own. But surely, didn't Sinead O'Connor also publicly retire back in 2005, about the same time as her Sea-Nos Nua album?
In the case of The Corrs, the band may no longer exist, but the sound and the spirit of Ireland's favourite family ensemble since The Nolans is still alive and thriving. Andrea has gone it alone before. Many may remember her playing opposite Madonna in Evita. Like the Material Girl, she has enlisted the help of Nelle Hooper to produce Ten Feet High. However, Nelle's influence is hardly ground breaking, save for a few backbeats and dance effects.
Andrea still sounds forlorn and whimsical, so we are hardly seeing a new side of her. Despite the protest content of her lyrics, her music remains pretty and frothy. Corrs fans will love the set, even if you can't help but think of Underworld's Born Slippy, which fuels the current single Shame On You.
