Ah, the link has been made lad rock frontrunners turn to dad rock champion Paul Weller to tickle the ivories on their album closer, Let It Lay.
Although it's the most mellow and gentle track on the album, there's a clear sense of the baton being passed - that's me boys!
Dogs' sound is loud and lairy, like The Jam hotwired by Stone Roses. It ain't clever, but it is nostalgic.
Dirty Little Shop offers a view of the bookies from a sink estate window; This Stone Is a Bullet laces wiry guitars with a veiled call to insurrection; while Chained To No One allows soul searching a platform.
It's hard to really dislike Dogs' second album, but I can't help feeling that if I wanted to hear The Jam I'd just go and dig out Setting Sons.
