INTRIGUING debut outing from the young Midlanders, made more so when you find out they're all aged 14-16 and have already impressed the spot cream off various NME writers.
The baby of the band, singer Mollie Kingsley, has a voice that could have launched a thousand velvet-trousered rockers' libidos into space 40 years ago.
She sounds like the sonic alchemists have cross-matched Marianne Faithful, Nico, Sandi Shaw and Grace Slick; while the band cook up a sultry confection of Donovan, Jesus & Mary Chain and Beefheart. The Lips of Cleopatra casts them as psychedelic pirates; Jezebel plays footsie with primal rock n' roll; and Gracelin sounds like a spiteful Julie Driscoll fronting a skeletal Pink Floyd.
Teenage kicks - so hard to beat!
