The current Miss England is encouraging Londoners to look after their hearing.
Georgia Horsley is profoundly deaf in her right ear and helped charity RNID launch its Ear of the Year competition.
RNID is the national charity for deaf and hard of hearing people.
The awards are part of the charity's Breaking the Sound Barrier campaign to challenge the stigma surrounding hearing loss.
Research shows 41 per cent of people believe those with a hearing loss cover it up or fail to seek help because they are embarrassed.
Georgia said: "I'm deaf in one ear but that doesn't stop me putting on the glitz and living life to the full.
"Ear of the Year is about getting everyone to value their ears and seek help to ensure they hear the best they can."
