For your chance to have the biggest laugh that money can buy, Sandown Park is pleased to announce that the ever-popular club, The Comedy Store will be coming to the racecourse on Saturday 2nd February, the totescoop6 Sandown Hurdle Day, for an afternoon of the finest in stand-up comedy and the chance to put a smile into a wintry February day!

Performing three live 20 minute acts after the days racing, the racecourse is proud to announce the following top comedians:

1. Terry Alderton was until now an ex-southend goalkeeper and a former holiday camp entertainer who was comedy's best-kept secret. This astounding act is a riot of exuberant, loose-limbed physical comedy, extraordinary caricatures and stunningly acute impressions.

In 2000, Terry was nominated for the prestigious Perrier Award which then led him to hosting the National Lottery Programme and also appearing on The Royal Variety Show. Other TV appearances include Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Saturday Live and Ian Wright's Friday Night's All Wright.

2. Roger Monkhouse is one of the most original and distinctive acts on the comedy scene. A consummate stand-up who employs a deadly combination of charm and menace to exert a masterful control over any audience.

He is one of the most sought after acts on the comedy circuit and is one of the regular writers on Channel 4's '8 out of 10 cats' featuring Jimmy Carr.

3. Andy Askins is a diminutive figure who exudes an air of vulnerability and an innocent child-like quality as he steps up to the microphone armed with a guitar and a cheeky grin!

He has an expertly crafted routine littered with an eclectic mix of offbeat comic songs and parodies. His repertoire includes a unique version of Dido's 'Thank You' and also a hilarious rendition of Sting's 'Message in a Bottle'.

With over 25 years experience in the business and as the premier name in comedy, the club is renowned as a breeding ground for new comedy talent and remains the place to see tomorrow's stars today. Names such as Paul Merton, Eddie Izzard, Peter Kay, Clive Anderson, Mark Lamarr and Lee Hurst to name but a few all cut their comedy teeth at the Comedy Store.

Don't miss this chance to share the universal language of laughter served up by the best afternoon out in Surrey and the good news is that ticket prices are the same price as a standard raceday!

If you are looking for those classic one-liners to keep your ribs sufficiently tickled and full audience interaction from the comedians then make your way to the racecourse where tickets not only include a day of top jump racing but also the chance to watch The Comedy Store comedians in action. Something to put a smile back on your face even if your horses don't win!

For this special 'comedy' event, the racecourse is offering racegoers an advanced package where tickets are only £15 for Grandstand and £22 for Premier and this includes racing and the Comedy performance* (seating is on first come first served basis).

Racing is a really social occasion and all group bookings of 11 or more receive a 20% discount, booked in advance*. To book tickets please call Sandown Park on 01372 47 00 47 or visit www.sandown.co.uk.
