A new indoor mini golf venue is coming to St George’s Shopping Centre.
Puttstars, a popular min-golf chain run by Hollywood Bowl, is set to open up at St George’s Shopping Centre in Harrow near the end of this year.
The new £2.4million venue in the heart of Harrow is due to begin construction in July, and is estimated to bring in 30 new jobs.
Hollywood Bowl announced that they were eyeing up a new Puttstars in Harrow as part of their financial recovery – after it sank to a £14.5million pre-tax loss in the six months to the end of March after being shut due to Covid-19 restrictions.
Revenues for the chain as a whole during the period also fell from £69.2million to just £12million.
Regardless, Hollywood Bowl is eyeing up to open between 14 and 18 new centres across the nation by 2024 – including the new golfing Puttstars site in Harrow.
A Hollywood Bowl Group spokesperson, said: "We're delighted to confirm we will be opening a Puttstars indoor mini golf venue at the St George's Centre in Harrow at the end of this year.
“Work on the new £2.4 million family entertainment centre is due to start in July and once complete, the venue will create around 30 new jobs. We are looking forward to sharing more information in due course."
Chief executive Stephen Burns said: “We are emerging from this challenging year of continuous lockdowns in a strong position to capitalise on the opportunities to invest in and significantly grow our portfolio of ten-pin bowling and mini-golf centres in prime locations and are pleased to be starting construction on three new centres later this year.
“The considerable demand we saw from customers when we reopened after the first lockdown and the strength of our pre-bookings for May gives us confidence that we can recover to pre-pandemic performance levels as families flock back for fun, celebrations and affordable activities.”
