A family who moved to South London from Poland 18-years ago have now found their "passion" with a new art gallery they started by accident in Colliers Wood.
Iwona Ciechanowska, 47, and her daughter Victoria, 19, from Morden, have been busy supporting local artists during lockdown.
The pair launched 'Pink and Poppy Atelier' after acquiring an empty unit to start a family wallpaper shop in Merton Abbey Mills last year.
"It was because my dad has a painting and decorating company and he has always been interested in interior design and wanted to move onto making his own things because he is always recommending other companies to clients," said daughter Victoria.
"My sixth form pushed people to go university but didn't speak about starting a business.
"I wasn't as passionate for my subjects but I'm passionate about art and supporting local artists."
Iwona and Victoria soon realised that coronavirus wouldn't allow them to meet with suppliers, so they decided to display their friends artwork in the shop during the meantime.
In the video, the mum and daughter tell us how displaying their friends paintings transformed into a popular art gallery- with artists now waiting up until August to display their work.
They also speak on how they were welcomed by other businesses within the Abbey Mills community and the importance of collaborating and supporting each other's ventures.
"We can grow all together, we can all be sucessful," said Iwona.
"We are waiting for the grand opening. Whatever we do, it will be big."
Paintings range from £65 to £1700.
