FOOD charity City Harvest has grown so much since its formation more than seven years ago that it has moved into larger premises at Acton Business Park.
Last week, its founder Laura Winningham and current CEO David Carter showed Ealing Central and Acton MP Rupa Huq, around the new premises, which are four times bigger than when it started.
City Harvest redistributes healthy surplus food to many charities, providing life-saving meals to people in need. It has so far delivered more than 20 million meals via 340 charities.
Laura was made an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours last year for her selfless work in the pandemic.
City Harvest is always searching for new food sources and, in addition to grocers, restaurants and manufacturers, it has recently started working directly with farmers.
It wants to hear from any business able to donate food, ingredients or ready meals. It will arrange collection.
The charity has a team of almost 2,500 volunteers, many of whom have become part of their workforce of 50 permanent staff.
