Take a detailed look at the scene above created out of two pictures stitched together to show a landscape view of Loughton High Road in the late 1800s.
Lopping Hall, built in 1884, can be seen in the middle distance.
The Crown Hotel on the right is thought to have occupied the site since 1826.
The extent of the changes can be seen by comparing the picture above with this modern-day view
Most of the buildings were swept away by the 1960s.
