Essex County Council are planning to demolish and rebuild the central library in Traps Hill, Loughton.
The plans are for a new library and community space financed from the proposed redevelopment of the current site including several floors of flats (possibly up to 38).
I would urge you to take part in this consultation process and let them know your views and feelings about their proposals.
The consultation exercise started on Monday, July 5 with the distribution of a information leaflet to 17,522 households. This included a structured questionnaire and an opportunity for more detailed responses via email and free post.
On Monday, July 12 there will be an online public meeting with Essex County Councillors, architects and the Essex Housing Team.
Face to face public exhibition events will be taking place on Thursday, July 22 in the afternoon and evening, and Saturday, July 24 in the morning.
The consultation will end on August 1 but the website and public feedback will remain active after this date.
Our libraries are important community assets, please take part and feed back your views.
The outcome will become our town’s library facility for the next 30 to 40 years.
Stephen Murray
Independent Loughton Councillor
