The number of coronavirus cases in Croydon increased by 146 in the last 24 hours, official figures show – and one more death was recorded.
A total of 36,522 people had been confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19 in Croydon when the UK coronavirus daily dashboard was updated on July 22 (Thursday), up from 36,376 on Wednesday.
The rate of infection in Croydon now stands at 9,444 cases per 100,000 people, higher than the England average of 8,682.
Across the UK, the number of recorded cases increased by 39,315 over the period, to 5,602,321.
There was also one more coronavirus death recorded in the latest 24-hour period in Croydon.
The dashboard shows 806 people had died in the area by July 22 (Thursday) – up from 805 on Wednesday.
It means there have been two deaths in the past week, which is the same as the previous week.
They were among 15,703 deaths recorded across London.
The figures include anyone who died within 28 days of a positive test result for Covid-19, and whose usual residence was in Croydon.
Daily death counts are revised each day, with each case backdated to the actual date of death.
The figures also show that half of people in Croydon have received two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine.
The latest figures show 170,673 people had received both jabs by July 21 (Wednesday) – 49% of those aged 18 and over.
As of today (July 22), this proportion is based on mid-2020 population estimates from the Office for National Statistics.
Previously, it had been based on the number of people on the National Immunisation Management Service database.
Across England, 69% of people aged 18 and above had received a second dose of the jab.
