Police are investigating after a man was rescued from the first floor of a building when a neighbouring flat caught fire in Lewisham.
The Brigade was called to Celestial Gardens shortly before 7am yesterday, where they found a four-roomed flat ablaze.
A neighbour was helped from the building with the aid of a fire escape hood, which provide up to 15 minutes protection from noxious fumes.
The flat was partially damaged. Fortunately, there were no reports of injuries.
Three engines and around 15 firefighters from Lee Green, Lewisham and Greenwich fire stations were able to bring the incident under control by 7.40pm.
The fire is under investigation by the Brigade and the Metropolitan Police Service.
