Twenty years ago the 9/11 tragedy claimed the lives of nearly 3,000 people – among which was the youngest British victim from Redbridge.

Vincent Wells of Woodford Green, who was 22 at the time, had been working as a stockbroker in the World Trade Centre.

The former Trinity Catholic High School student was working on the 105th floor of the north tower for his firm Cantor Fitzgerald when the first plane struck.

In 2011 Mr Wells’ parents wrote a touching tribute in the East London Guardian.

They said: “WELLS, Vincent Remembering our precious boy killed September 11th, 2001, in New York.

“Ten long sad years.

“Sad is the heart that loves you, softly our tears still fall, Living our lives without you Vincent, That's the saddest part of all.

“Always in our hearts Mum & Dad.”

Two other men from Redbridge were also among the victims.
