A dog-owner from Erith has been sentenced and fined £3,000 for owning a dangerous dog.
Sayinthan Theivasothy, 27, was ordered to pay £3,000 in fines as compensation after admitting to owning a dog dangerously out of control.
The defendant’s brown German Shephard Cross Husky named Rider caused psychological and physical damage to a man in Albany Road in Chatham on July 2, 2020.
Theivasothy, previously of Newbery Road in Erith in Kent, now of Front Street, Chester Le Street, was sentenced to six months in prison, suspended for 12 months at Margate Magistrates’ Court on September 7, 2021.
He also must carry out 200 hours of unpaid work within the next year.
Theivasothy was ordered to keep Rider under “proper control” from now – including keeping him muzzled and on a lead at all times.
The court stated if this was not the case, the dog must be destroyed.
