A man and woman have been charged with “preventing a lawful and decent burial” after a body was discovered in Deptford.
Ilie Pintea, 37, and Wesleandra De Olivera Prata, 32, both of Geldort Street, Southwark, were arrested on Saturday, September 25, after returning to the UK from Romania.
Police were called shortly before 7am on Friday, September 10, to reports of a body found in the vicinity of Payne Street.
Efforts to identify the deceased male continue, whose death is currently being treated as unexplained.
Officers await the findings of a post-mortem examination.
The pair were taken into custody and charged with preventing a lawful and decent burial, before being released under investigation on suspicion of murder,
They appeared at Bexley Magistrates' Court on Monday, September 27.
