A Waltham Forest man has been jailed for six weeks following a series of bag thefts.
Tariq Akram, of Exmouth Road, was sentenced at Thames Magistrates' Court on Saturday November 13.
The court heard he had stolen a rucksack in Waltham Forest on Wednesday, May 5- the bag had a wallet, £10 in cash, bank card, house and car keys, driving licence and an oyster card inside.
Prior to this offence, the defendant had stolen bags from three other victims.
Akram was found guilty of stealing a bag in Newham which included sunglasses, medication, and paperwork totaling to the value of £300 from a victim in April.
He was also found to have stolen a lunch bag of an unknown value in Waltham Forest on Friday, May 7.
The thief stuck again in Waltham Forest and stole a rucksack which had a wallet, £120 in cash, driving licence, 21 US Dollars and four bank cards inside on Thursday, May 27.
Akram has been committed to prison for six weeks and ordered to pay £128 victim surcharge.
