A NURSERY in Leyton reached out to local businesses in a bid to raise funds for Children in Need.
Bright Kids Day nursery on High Road organised a huge fundraiser for the special day on Friday, November 19.
Sophie Richmond, the assistant manager at the nursery, asked local businesses to donate contributions for their raffle prizes. She managed to persuade the Asda supermarket next door to the nursery to dig deep for the cause.
The shop donated 40 wrapped presents and treated the nursery to an appearance of Children in Need mascot, Pudsey Bear, who attended the fundraising event.
A jewellery store, Alex Monroe, donated a gold necklace worth more than £100 for the cause.
Parents, staff and other retail shops also donated gifts, vouchers and toys.
The raffle tickets sold managed to raise the total to £614 which went to Children in Need.
Amanda O’Brien, the nursery manager, said: “It was lovely to have our parents come along and raise money for such a good cause.
“The children loved seeing Pudsey.”
