On Sunday, I went to Ashford Designer outlet for Black Friday, as expected it was overcrowded with people who were hoping to grab deals but unfortunately couldnt.
A scheme had been introduced throughout nearly all the stores. It included 'Spend over £115 and get £20 off' or 'Spend over £120 and get 20% on next item'. Many stores had used this such as Hollister, Superdry, Ralph Lauren etc, for some there were long queues however other stores that used this scheme didnt attract as many customers. The reason for long queues outside particular shops was most likely because people were genuinely there to buy from the outlet and not there for the sales on the other hand people ,who were there were, extremely disappointed on the whole as the outlets were too expensive in the first place and they had only landed in this location because of black Friday. This was also a let down for them because majority of people can't afford designer products everyday and sales are a chance for them to unleash some of their money but people who are regular consumers of top class brands didnt find this as shocking and incomprehensible.
From those who were disappointed, a lot of their conversations could be heard and I did catch a few sentences. A phrase very popular used was 'Black Friday comes with a condition'
Do you think this was unfair?
