With great power comes great responsibility…
Spider-Man: No Way Home is the third of Tom Holland’s Marvel Cinematic Universe ‘Home’ trilogy and has been highly anticipated by Marvel fans, across the globe. Boasting a star-studded cast of actors new and old to the franchise and promising to be one of the most spectacular cinematic events of the year. Spider-Man is one of the most popular superheroes in the world. Our ‘friendly neighbourhood Spidey’ is known worldwide for his films and comics, so there is no surprise that the film is set to be the biggest of 2021.
The way this film has been marketed has drawn in fans far and wide. In late February of 2021, the title was revealed in what some people may call an unconventional manner. Each of the three main cast members - Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Jacob Batalon, posted different variations of the film name such as work from home or can’t find home. This sparked a social media fiasco, leaving fans wondering what the real title was. It was then revealed in a teaser video that the new Spider-Man would be called ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home. Fans then had to wait months for the release of posters and trailers. The first trailer was released in September and the final trailer was released just a month before the release date. Twitter and social media sites buzzed between the months of September and November about the film, the title often trending every single day - this created great excitement for the new Spider-Man movie, which is quite unusual for the third film in a trilogy.
Furthermore, there have been various ‘rumours’ and ‘leaks’ spread about this film which could result in ecstatic reactions from fans or many disappointed faces walking out of the cinema. There have been lots of leaks of pictures and information about the film, much to the dismay of Sony and Disney. Two of the most prevalent ones have revolved around the introduction of three characters into the MCU. The first is Matthew Murdock AKA Hell’s Kitchen’s Daredevil, who many fans speculate to be Peter Parker’s lawyer, this has sparked much enthusiasm from Daredevil fans around the film, as they wait to see their favourite superhero join the marvel cinematic universe. But the rumour that has fans sleeping with one eye open, counting the days down until the 15th of December is the possibility we may see all three Spider-Men in one film. There have been pictures of the set and suits that some say are edited, others truly believe they will see the return of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield in the final edition of this trilogy. This has been the force driving people to go and see this Spider-Man movie, the nostalgia of seeing the childhood spidey of their generation swing around New York has stirred up an intense desire for people to get to the cinemas on the films release date and see if their dreams come true.
On the 29th of November, ticket release day, cinema and ticket sale sites crashed as fans swarmed to these websites to book tickets for No way home. Suggesting that this will be one of the biggest MCU films to date. Of Course with these high expectations and sold-out cinemas the film has the pressure placed on it to be one of the best Spider-Man films ever and usher in Marvel’s phase 4, shaking up the multiverse.
Spider-Man: No Way Home is out in UK Cinemas on Wednesday 15th December 2021.
