The English National Ballets performance of the Nutcracker features over 100 dancers and musicians, and it was beautiful to watch.
The nutcracker is a Christmas set in Edwardian times about how a young girl Clara gets an enchanted nutcracker as a present and how Clara and the Nutcracker Prince go on a journey and battle a mouse king. The story was beautifully executed by the dancers and the backstage work, such as the sets, added to the charming atmosphere of the production. The performance was very enjoyable and the music by Tchaikovsky was excellently played, the music is something you can enjoy regardless of whether or not you like ballet.
This production took place in the mesmerising London Coliseum, which was originally opened in 1904, and is the largest theatre in London’s West End. Unfortunately, the production is currently postponed because there are multiple positive covid 19 Cases in the company.
I asked my sister – who saw the nutcracker with me – what she thought, and she said, “I really enjoyed it, the performances of the ballerinas were incredible, the musicians were very talented and the way that the choreography of the dancers and the music connected was beautiful.”
