A 38-year-old man is fighting for his life after he was reportedly assaulted by a group of seven people in Croydon.
Patrolling officers came across the victim shortly after 12.10am on Sunday, February 27, on London Road, close to West Croydon Railway station.
They provided first aid to treat his head injuries before the ambulance service’s arrival.
The man was taken to hospital where he remains in a life-threatening condition. His next of kin have been informed.
Police believe he was assaulted by a group of around seven people who left the scene towards the Centrale Shopping Centre before police arrived.
Officers are carrying out urgent enquiries to trace them. They have already spoken to several witnesses and are reviewing CCTV from the area.
