A new project has been introduced at the Glades Shopping centre in Bromley for locals to reserve household and DIY items.
The Library of Things is a project for locals to borrow items rather than buying new ones for every home.
The items that are available for borrowing range from sewing machines, metal detectors, camping equipment, to DIY equipment, such as drills, pressure washers and hedge trimmers, and more.
All items can reserved online for a daily cost which is then collected from the self-service kiosk at the Greener and Cleaner hub.
Councillor Will Harmer, chairman of environment committee and Bromley Town ward councillor said: “A big welcome to Bromley to the Library of Things and with thanks to Greener and Cleaner Bromley for hosting the Library of Things at the newly launched eco-hub.
“If you are in Bromley, it is well worth popping in and visiting this innovative shop and spending a little time familiarising yourself with what is available or look online.
“We don’t necessarily need to purchase an ever-expanding inventory of possessions but instead borrow them only when we need them, lessening the environmental impact of manufacturing these items.”
The Library of Things was founded by Emma Shaw, Rebecca Trevalyan, and Sophia Wyatt in 2016.
More than 5,000 people have now borrowed items over 10,000 times across other hubs in London, according to the Greener and Cleaner charity.
The centre is open five days a week from 10am till 6pm however it is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
The hub also operates on shorter hours on Sundays from 11am till 5pm.
You can now sign up to reserve items online from the Library of Things website.
