Greenwich Council is asking locals for feedback to help shape the future of Woolwich town centre.

It comes after the Council look to invest £21 million to help deliver improvements throughout Woolwich.

This includes improvements to Beresford Square, Powis Street, Hare Street and key entrances into the town centre.

Plans could also include a new Market Pavilion, restoring shop fronts, enhancements to the historic Royal Arsenal Gatehouse and space for events.

The funding will also be used to provide for new seating, trees, planting, signage, public art and information about Woolwich’s history.

Councillor Danny Thorpe, leader of the Royal Borough of Greenwich said: “It’s vitally important that residents, businesses and community groups in Woolwich have the opportunity to help shape the future of the town centre.

“We want to build a thriving town centre that we can all be proud of and showcase Woolwich’s unique heritage.

“This will ensure we can make the most of the opportunities that the arrival of the Elizabeth line will bring to Woolwich, as well as other exciting developments like the new leisure centre and Woolwich Exchange.”

You can have your say on the potential plans today (March 21) from 11am to 2pm at Beresford Square.

Locals can also register online to take part in a workshop on the future of Woolwich town centre which will take place on March 22 from 6pm to 8pm.

The feedback received will be used to develop a series of detailed designs which will be shared with the community in the summer for further comments.

Improvements will be delivered from autumn 2022 and are expected to complete in 2024.
