Officers forced entry into a house after reports that a man had a knife.
Road closures were in place around Mill Hill Broadway earlier today (March 23) as there were concerned that a man, equipped with a knife, entered a house in Mill Way Road.
The Met says that the suspect, in his 20s, refused to leave the property or allow police in as they attended the scene.
As a result, officers forced themselves into the property to arrest the man on suspicion of possessing a weapon and criminal damage.
No injuries were reported, despite concerns after at least six police cars were spotted at the residential road this afternoon.
A spokesperson for the Met said: “A number of resources were sent to the area to bring the incident to a safe conclusion.
“This was a precautionary measure and residents can be reassured that there was no risk to the wider public.”
The incident has now been stood down and the man remains in police custody.
