The A1 was closed for a number of hours this morning after a crash involving a motorbike.
Emergency services were called to the three-lane carriageway at around 5.45am (April 8) following reports of a collision.
A van and a motorbike were involved and it happened on the stretch between Stirling Corner in Borehamwood towards Apex Corner in Edgware.
The motorcyclist, who is believed to be aged in his 40s, has been taken to hospital.
The Metropolitan Police have been unable to give information on his condition at this time.
The van driver remained at the scene. Police have confirmed no arrests have been made and enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.
Accident investigation work took place on the southbound carriageway this morning but the A1 road closure was lifted by the late morning.
The closure caused severe delays on surrounding routes - particularly in the Borehamwood, Elstree, and Arkley areas, with Allum Lane and Barnet Lane especially affected.
All of the traffic delays have now cleared.
