For some, Easter means chocolate eggs, bonnets and spring, but for others, Easter means a nice pint in the sun (if you are lucky) and a chunk of time off work.
Greenwich is filled with wonderful places to visit for a drink, but we have gathered together the top seven beer gardens or outdoor spaces that would really make your 2022 Easter bank holiday something special.
We have sieved through the depths of Trip Advisor and Google reviews to recommend to you what we think is the best of the best.
Oh and did we mention? London is predicted to hit 21 degrees on Easter weekend which gives you all the more reason to get out there and enjoy yourself.
The Gipsy Moth - 60 Greenwich Church St, Greater, London SE10 9BL
A crowd favourite. The pub itself has a discreet nautical theme, with mermaid statues at the bar. The beer garden can fit up to 200 people and has plenty of homely feeling plants and parasols in case the rain does pay a visit. It is also close to the famous Cutty Sark ship if you fancy seeing the sights a little before your pint!
British Oak - 109 Old Dover Rd, London SE3 8SU
This is one of those really traditional pubs that feel like home and the beer garden is no different. If you like Pie Minister, this might be the place for you as they serve food until 9.30pm. Not to mention, what is Easter without some spring chickens? If you visit the British Oak you can see some live ones in the beer garden.
The Old Brewery - The Pepys Building, The Old Royal Naval College, London SE10 9LW
The Old Brewery has a stunning architectural exterior and atmospheric string lights to go with it. The large beer garden is situated around the outside of the pub, with some benches on the grass giving it the feeling of relaxing in a park. There is also an additional courtyard area and the food here is said to be amazing.
The Guildford Arms – 55 Guildford Grove, London SE10 8JY
For those of you looking for a bit more of a classy weekend, this beer garden is full of beauty. One reviewer even describes it as a “tranquil oasis”. With lots of European wines, artisan beers and cocktails to choose from, I am sure you will not struggle for some Instagram content. It is also dog friendly.
Richard the First - 52/54 Royal Hill, London SE10 8RT
This beer garden is the perfect space to escape the hustle and bustle of central Greenwich. The garden, which is situated at the back of the pub, has tall glass windows that allow you to have a look inside. The old-fashioned lampshades and general décor give it quite a rustic vibe.
The Cutty Sark - 4-6 Ballast Quay, London SE10 9PD
Named after the historic sailing ship, this pub and kitchen are equally as stunning. What is better than a table with a view looking over the Thames River? Make your Easter weekend one to remember with cityscape views and a romantic atmosphere. Celebrate in style.
Ashburnham Arms - 25 Ashburnham Grove, London SE10 8UH
If you are willing to head off the beaten track a little, you will find Ashburnham Arms which has a gem of a beer garden. A typical neighbourhood pub with a lovely outdoor space to relax in at both the back and the front of the venue. Cosy and homely, a great place for a few drinks without the fuss of central Greenwich.
If we leave you with one final reminder, let it be this… Make sure you book in advance to avoid disappointment as we all know bank holidays are always extremely busy.
