On Thursday night, Manchester United and Chelsea battled out a 1-1 draw at Old trafford.
The game was very quiet until Marcos Alonso scored from a cross in the 60’ minute.Following this goal it seemed that it was heading for a Chelsea win however Cristiano Ronaldo was there to their rescue and scored the equaliser.
This meant that the race for top 4 was evermore tighter with the european champions Chelsea sitting at 4th with 33 games played and 66 points to their name. North of Stamford Bridge are Arsenal sitting in a typical 4th position with 60 points in 33 games. In 5th are a poor spurs side on 58 points, trying to fight for a Champions league spot in another trophyless season. In the last Europa League spot sits Manchester United but they have only accumulated 55 points in 35 games with a +2 goal difference, a very, very poor season by their standards. Then comes a strong West Ham side who are in a UEFA Conference League spot on 52 points in 34 games played and a decent +8 G.D.
After all these common names comes a very surprising side in the form of Wolverhampton Wanderers. After starting off poorly to the 21/22 season, Wolves sit in 8th with 33 games played, 49 points and a very good difference of 4. A side with the likes of Jose Sa,Jimenez,Hwang Hee Chan,Neves,Podence and Trincao need 2 wins to be above Manchester United.
All we can be sure of is that the fight for champions league spots and europe will be a very exciting sight to watch when Manchester city and Liverpool claim the top 2 spot every season.
