THE winners for the One Bromley Local Care Partnership awards have been announced.

The awards were celebrated during an event on May 19.

The aim of the awards was to recognise Bromley health care workers for their commitment, resilience, and everything they do on a day-to-day basis.

Bromley was also announced as the winner of the Health and Care Integration award at the MJ Achievement Awards on September 17, 2021.

The One Bromley local care partnership is made up of health providers, Bromley Council, south east London clinical commissioning group, and voluntary services.

These services are working together to provide more joined-up, proactive and personalised care for people in Bromley.

Here are your winners:

Residents shaping and influencing integrated care award

An innovative collaboration with Bromley College and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

The aim of both is to find job placements and work experience for young people.

The Mary Cooke Award for reducing health inequalities and improving the health of Bromley resident

The winner of this award is the health clinics run in the Bromley Homeless Shelter over winter.

By providing a range of health care services including health checks, the Covid vaccination, and help to register with a GP.

Keeping people well and cared for in their communities’ award

A support package was provided to the many care homes in Bromley over the pandemic period.

This work aimed to help residents improve their functionality and independence.

The integrated approach to caring for vulnerable people award:

The integrated single point of access for discharge, transfer of care bureau, and end of life care and home first huddles.

These services identify and support Bromley locals being discharged from the hospital who need to either continue their recovery in the community or those nearing the end of their life so they can die in their chosen place.

Improving the care and experiences of children and young people award:

The new service for children’s emotional and mental well-being.

This service is for young people to be treated by the right team in the right place.

Supporting the One Bromley system award

The communications campaign to support delivery of the Bromley winter plan.

This includes regular system-wide winter pressure information and public leaflets delivered to every household about how to keep well over winter.

Innovative use of technology award

The use of remote technology to deliver a wide range of interactive clinical webinars to staff providing care.

Integrated response to the COVID Pandemic award

The extensive Bromley vaccination programme including GP led services, pharmacies, the mass vaccination site, and the wide range of pop-up vaccination clinics set up across the borough to reach different communities.

Integrating acute and community health and care award

The high-intensity user service which is run at the Princess Royal University Hospital.

This supports people using emergency services on a very regular basis who often don’t need health care, but who have underlying social problems.

Other finalists were highly commended for the work they are doing to deliver proactive and improved care for Bromley locals.

These are:

The proactive care pathway supporting vulnerable residents at risk of hospital admission to get the care they need at home and improve their independence.

The COVID management service.

The COVID Vaccination Inequalities group.

The Beckenham PCN Vaccination service.

The Children’s Hospital at Home service.

The acute frailty unit at the Princess Royal University Hospital.

The Bromleag Care Practice – providing GP care to Bromley care home residents.

The lived experience programme supporting staff from ethnic minority backgrounds.

The COVID respiratory hub.

Dr Andrew Parson, Bromley GP and clinical lead for the One Bromley Local Care Partnership said: “The awards are a fantastic way to celebrate our workforce, from the award finalists to everyone working across Bromley services together to care for our residents.

“We were overwhelmed with the high number of good quality applications for the awards, which shows just how much our services are working collaboratively together.

“It was a very special evening, bringing together so many talented and committed people working across organisational boundaries with a common goal of providing the best care possible”.

“Reflecting over the last two incredibly tough years, we have much to be proud of.

“As COVID struck, Bromley health and care services came together in a way I have never witnessed before and it was truly humbling.

“None of what we have achieved over the last few years would have been possible without the dedication of every individual working together to support our residents as well as each other”.

Cllr Diane Smith executive councillor for adult services and health said: “Bromley Council is completely committed to delivering the ambitions of our ‘Making Bromley Even Better’ corporate strategy jointly with our partner agencies.

“Strong partnerships across local public services, our voluntary and community sectors, faith and community groups, as well as businesses, are key to delivering our plans.

“In this way, our work with health colleagues has produced award-winning services and we intend to build on this collaboration into the future.

“During the Covid-19 pandemic, we saw these relationships go from strength to strength and we have our committed teams both within the Council and Health to thank for this.

“Whether an award winner or not, everyone involved should be extremely proud of the services we have delivered, and continue to deliver, for the benefit of the residents of our borough”.
