A view across Chingford plains towards Rangers Road c1910.
For nearly 1,000 years people have been grazing cattle on Epping Forest. It is part of the commoner rights to be able to do so.
People living around the forest will remember when cattle used to take themselves for a walk around Chingford.
It was a common sight to see cows wandering up the road and munching on flowers from people’s front gardens.
Today, English Long Horn cattle graze in the forest.
