A man from Lewisham has been fined £180 after beating up a member of the public and stealing sweets and chocolate from Poundland.
George Nicholson, of Brockley Road, admitted to stealing sweets and chocolate to the value of £35.50 at the Poundland store in Penge High Street on April 2, 2022.
Nicholson also admitted to assaulting a man on the same date inside the same store.
The 32-year-old was ordered to pay £180 for the offences during a hearing at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, May 26, 2022.
This is compensation, and no order was made for surcharge or costs to prioritise this.
Nicholson is unable to enter the Poundland store in Penge for one year and must complete a community order by May 25, 2023.
He must also attend rehabilitation appointments or participate in any activity as required by a responsible officer up to a maximum of 35 days.
Nicholson must pay £20 per month commencing on July 7, 2022.
