A clock tower has been left damaged after a fire in Bromley.
The fire broke out in Ravensbourne Road shortly before 8.40pm yesterday (June 14).
The Brigade tackled the fire on the sixth floor of a mixed-use building.
Half of the clock tower was damaged by the fire.
There were no reports of any injuries.
The fire was discovered by a number of residents in a block of flats that overlooks the clock tower.
The Brigade’s 999 Control Officers took 35 calls to the blaze.
The fire was under control shortly after 10pm.
Fire crews from Bromley, Beckenham, Lee Green, and Lewisham fire stations attended the scene.
The fire was caused by a fault in a light fitting which is used to illuminate the clock at night.
A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade said: “Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a clock tower alight on Ravensbourne Road in Bromley last night.
“Half of a clock tower on the six floor of a mixed-use building was damaged by fire. There were no reports of any injuries.
“The fire was discovered by a number of residents in a block of flats overlooked by the clocktower.
“The Brigade’s 999 Control Officers took 35 calls to the blaze.
“The Brigade was called at 2038 and the fire was under control by 2205.
“Fire crews from Bromley, Beckenham, Lee Green and Lewisham fire stations attended the scene.
“The fire is believed to have been accidental and caused by a fault in a light fitting used to illuminate the clock face at night.”
