A man who had been arrested after a mother and young son died in Barnet has been released with no further action.
Yi Chen, 37, and her five-year-old son Xing Duan Yuan were found with stab wounds at a home in Brookside South on Tuesday afternoon.
A man had been arrested on suspicion of murder, but Yi Chen’s post-mortem has since provided “important new information as to the nature of her injuries”, DCI Claire Hine said on Thursday evening.
“Following the post-mortem examination, the 37-year-old man who had been arrested in connection with the deaths has been released without further action.
“Nobody else is sought in connection with the two deaths.”
Yi Chen’s cause of death was given as stab wounds. A post-mortem for Xing Duan Yuan is scheduled to commence on Wednesday, June 29.
It comes after dozens of people gathered outside the home on Thursday evening to lay flowers and pay their respects.
DCI Hine said: “I am also well aware of the significant impact this tragedy has had on local people and particularly children.
“Colleagues from the Met’s North West BCU are continuing to work alongside my officers and with partner organisations to provide the community with the reassurance and help that they need.”
