Hundreds of people attended the launch of a heritage trail linking 20 landmarks and historic sites.

The North Chingford Heritage Trail was launched on Saturday, June 25 and met with huge enthusiasm by the local community and public.

More than 200 people attended the launch throughout the afternoon at the newly renovated Chingford Community Hub.

There were a number of guided walks around the trail's 20 landmarks and historic gems.

Attendees received a limited edition booklet and copies of the hand illustrated map and hearing words from Gary Stone who opened the event with some words accompanied by performances by Chingford Amateur Dramatic and Operatic Society (CADOS).

Alongside the local community and visitors, dignitaries including Cllr Kay Isa, Cllr Roy Berg and Cllr Justin Halabi took in the trail and talked to the public about the new visitor attraction.

Chingford Historical Society chair Gary Stone said: "The trail is a major success for raising the profile of local history and heritage in North Chingford.

"We have had so many positive comments of support from the community and those who live or work at the landmarks on the trail.

"The future is exciting for Chingford as there are a number of events planned around heritage and the arts in the future."

Chingford Historical Society was supported by Waltham Forest Council in bringing this trail to life for people of all ages to engage with, not only for today, but for the future as a lasting legacy for years to come.
