The Coronet Café was one of more than 11 tea gardens that sprung up in North Chingford in the 1890s to cater for trippers.
From 1917 a group of Catholics would meet at the café on Sunday mornings to celebrate mass for five shillings a week.
In 1923, the Chingford Golf Club held its first meeting at the café.
The property was later converted into private dwellings.
The landmark is no.5 on the new North Chingford Heritage Trail launched last week.
