A man is set to run 38 marathons in 38 days from Spain to Loughton.
Juan David Tenorio, who lives in Loughton, will start the 1,600km challenge on August 7.
He intends to start the journey from Valencia with nothing more than a small backpack as he ventures back to the UK.
The ambitious challenge is part of a fundraiser to support Children With Cancer UK.
Mr Tenorio said that his family has been “affected by cancer on many occasions” and it is something he “wouldn’t wish on anyone”, which is why he wishes to support the charity.
Mr Tenorio said: “For as long as I can remember, I have always enjoyed running. It was my way of dealing with the problems that life threw at me from a young age.
“I wanted to do something that would take me out of my comfort zone and force me to channel my negative thoughts into something positive.”
The idea kickstarted when he listened to a podcast from Russ Cook, who ran from Turkey to London.
